The Desert Museum

The Desert Museum in Saltillo, Coahuila opened its doors in 1999 with interactive exhibits, videos and collections about the Earth, its history and the evolution of life; the geology and paleontology of the region; the flora and fauna of the present desert ecosystem and a history of its human inhabitants.

The museum promotes respect and appreciation for the Chihuahuan Desert through the diffusion of knowledge. Allowing the community to experience the natural wealth of Coahuila, the museum also stimulates a sense of preservation of the desert for future generations.

The museum also has spaces dedicated to the preparation, classification, study and exhibition of paleontological materials from Coahuila. In addition to a considerable number of educational activities, scientific and cultural exchange programs on a local, national and international scale complement the activities of this museum.
