Dinosaur Hill

In 1994, the Paleontological Commission of the Secretary of Public Education of the State of Coahuila (SEPC), the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) and the Institute of Geology, UNAM established a special paleontological reserve in the area of Rincon Colorado.

One of the protected zones is Dinosaur Hill, established at the historical site where the first, nearly complete dinosaur skeleton was discovered in Mexico and which is now on display in the Museum of Geology, UNAM. The hill includes an educational path with several stops where visitors can learn about the process of fossil bone recovery and see how these bones are found in the layers of rock.
