Poetry

Mantis Publishing
Founded by the poet Luis Armenta Malpica in Guadalajara in 1996, the Mantis Publishing is one of the most important publishers promoting poetry in Jalisco. They publish on average 10 books per year, including, besides poetry, short story, novel and essay.

"Every book is another piece on the chessboard I call life."
-Luis Armenta Malpica

Carmen Villoro
Poet

At a very young age Villoro started attending literature workshops, with teachers like Juan Bañuelos, among others. In college she studied psychology with a specialty in psychoanalysis. Since then she has worked in her two professions: writing and psychology. She is the director of Tragaluz nagazine and belongs to Mexico's National System of Creators. She is currently writing a book on essays about poetry and psychoanalysis.

"Culture is the place where humans encounter their surroundings. It is the dance that results from this romance between subjectivity and matter, between emotions and civilization. It is passion sublimated to build something different."
